Poland in a strong position to qualify after Montenegro Victory

An away win in Montenegro puts Poland 6 points clear in Group E for the World Cup Qualifications for the competition in Russia in 2018. Robert Lewandowski and Lukasz Piszczek scored in either half to keep Poland at the top of the table.

It was an overall cagey affair between the two sides. Captain and striker Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring with a free kick from roughly 20-25 yards out. Poland led until the second half, when Damir Kojasevic crossed to Stefan Mugosa for a close range header in the 68th minute. Poland answered back with a fantastic chip over the keeper by Lukasz Piszczek after a fantastic pass by Piotr Zielinski.

Leading with six points, Poland faces Romania at home in June 2017 in their next qualification match.
